Michigan Route 11

Western Terminus: I-96, 1 mile northwest of Walker. | Eastern Terminus: I-96, 1 mile east of Kentwood.

About M-11

This iteration of M-11 came into existence in 1961, along the former routing of US 16 along Ironwood Drive, Wilson Avenue, and 28th Street through the western and southern sections of metropolitan Grand Rapids. M-11 occupies what was supposed to be the western and southern legs of a "Beltline" system of highways in Grand Rapids. The eastern leg was called East Beltline, and still carries that name today, along with the M-37 and M-44 designations. The northern leg would have followed 3 Mile Road, but was never constructed. Today, I-96's route through the northern part of the Grand Rapids vicinity is close to where the North Beltline would have been built.

Western Terminus

The western terminus of M-11 is at I-96 (Exit 24) near Walker. There is no M-11 ENDS signage in place at this endpoint. There are two interesting things about the entrance ramp onto I-96 West from M-11. First, the gore signage here is older, and is not typical of standard signage erected today. In addition, the on-ramp itself left merges into I-96 West.

Eastern Terminus

The eastern terminus of M-11 is also at I-96, except this time it is at a six-ramp parclo interchange (Exit 43) just east of Kentwood.
