The photograph of the northern end of US Route 1 shows the view of the South Carolina state line as it is approached from the Georgia side.  The bridge is over the Savannah River, and as you can see, the northbound/eastbound lanes were under construction at the time this picture was taken in the summer of 2003.

The first of the southern terminus photographs is from the Florida side of the St. Marys River looking into Georgia along the southbound lanes.  The second photograph was taken alongside the northbound lanes, looking into Florida.  The third photograph is a close-up view of the ‘Florida’ sign seen in the background of the second photograph.  The fourth photograph shows an interesting commentary on Georgia politics, circa 2003.  A lot of people are angered over the issue with the state flag, and it appears that one local is displeased with the governor’s choice for the flag!
